MÜNCHEN (COMPUTERWOCHE) - Mit dem "8800" hat der finnische Mobilfunkkonzern ein neues Edelhandy vorgestellt, bei dem nach Herstellerangaben Techniken aus Uhrmacher- und Goldschmiedhandwerk eingesetzt wurden. Die Töne für das in einem schlanken Stahlgehäuse verpackte Gerät hat man sich passend vom japanischen Ambient-Komponisten Ryuichi Sakamoto (Ex Yellow Magic Orchestra) komponieren lassen.
Das unsägliche Marketing-Geschwafel aus der Presseankündigung möchten wir Ihnen ansonsten lieber ersparen. Interessant scheint aber noch der "Pop-up-Mechanismus" mit bi-stabilen Federn und Kugellagern aus rostfreiem Stahl, der die Tastatur aus seiner Schutzhülle gleiten lässt und eine auf der Rückseite verborgene Kamera enthüllt. Modernes Hochdesign verlange "Subtilität und Veredelung", faselt Nokias Chefdesigner Frank Nuovo, das 8800 gehöre "in den Pantheon ikonischer Produkte".
Wie auch immer, das Nokia 8800 soll im zweiten Quartal in ausgewählten Märkten ausgeliefert werden und ohne Kartenvertrag rund 750 Euro kosten. Das Pendant für den US-Markt heißt 8801, außerdem gibt es ein passendes "Wireless Stereo Headset". Ach ja, fast vergessen: Die technischen Features kann man hier nachlesen. (tc)
